Legal Counsel, Contract, Tuas
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Advisory & Support
- Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to the Singapore legal counsel and business units during the plant construction phase.
- Advising on and mitigating construction related risks including delays, disputes and change orders
- Advise on regulatory and compliance matters relevant to the pharmaceutical industry and construction projects.
- Liaise with the global legal teams in China, the US, and Europe to ensure alignment with multinational standards and practices.
2. Contract Management
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related contracts, including contracts with vendors, suppliers, and service providers.
- Provide legal input on project management agreements and risk assessments.
- Develop and maintain templates for contracts to standardize and streamline processes.
3. Commercial Operations
- Support legal aspects of the company's operations, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
- Assist in establishing policies, processes, and systems for effective risk management and governance.
- Post-construction, manage customer contracts in the pharmaceutical industry, ensuring alignment with industry-specific requirements.
- Provide ongoing support for commercial agreements, including manufacturing agreements, service level agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
4. Independent Execution
- Take ownership of assigned legal matters and run them independently with minimal supervision, ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
5. Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across functions such as procurement, operations, and compliance.
- Liaise with external counsel on specialized matters when required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a recognized institution.
- PQE: 5-8 years of post-qualification experience, preferably with a focus on construction, commercial contracts, and/or the pharmaceutical industry.
- Skills:
- Drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with global teams.
- Experience:
- Prior experience in a multinational company or law firm
- Familiarity with Singapore laws and regulations, with exposure to cross-border transactions.
- Attributes:
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Meticulous and detail-oriented, with a focus on delivering practical legal solutions.
- Flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of a start-up environment.
