Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Technical Project Manager to join our IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing project management as well as engineering support including designing, validating and setting up of infrastructure related systems (experiences in designing and engineering IP telephony systems) to ensure delivery of reliable, scalable and efficient communication infrastructure. This role involves collaborating with various internal IT & Business Units departments as well as 3rd party vendors, managing the installation, setup and testing process, and providing ongoing troubleshooting support and maintenance.
Tech Engineer Key Responsibilities
Requirements and Design:
- Assess scope of work + requirements and design scalable solutions.
- Support the development of work breakdown tasks as well as duration of such key project tasks.
- Provide assessment of appropriate hardware, software, networking and cabling components for the targeted solutions / systems.
Installation and Configuration:
- Set up and configure IP / infrastructure systems including but not limited to PBX systems, VoIP gateways, SBC, IP phones, and related equipment. Knowledge and experience on contact center applications systems.
- Ensure proper integration with existing network infrastructure, including LAN/WAN/VPN/firewall configurations.
- Implement Quality of Service (QoS) measures to prioritize voice traffic and ensure optimal performance.
Integration and Testing:
- Integrate the IP / infrastructure systems with other communication platforms (e.g., email, contact center applications, property management system).
- Conduct thorough testing of the system to identify and resolve issues.
- Perform compatibility testing with various network components and endpoints.
Support and Maintenance:
- Provide tier 2 technical support and troubleshooting.
- Create and maintain documentation, including system configurations, user guides, and troubleshooting manuals.
Project Management Key Responsibilities:
- Manage infrastructure projects from initiation to closure, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Develop and execute project plans, resource allocation plans, and risk management plans.
- Lead and manage project teams, including vendors and stakeholders, to achieve project objectives.
- Coordinate and facilitate project meetings, status updates, and progress reports.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks and issues.
- Manage project budget, including forecasting, tracking, and reporting expenses.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements and ensure project deliverables meet business needs.
- Develop and maintain project documentation, including project charters, scope statements, and status reports.
- Conduct project closure activities, including documentation, evaluation, and lessons learned.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in designing, setting up, and managing IP and network systems, (e.g., Cisco, ALE, Asterisk).
- Hands-on experience with VoIP protocols (SIP, H.323) and QoS implementation.
Skills:
- Excellent understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience with project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Jira).
Certifications:
- Alcatel certified system engineer
- CCIE
- PMP
